I write my poetry on my own but no one reads it. Should I continue to write?

Stop it now.

Stop underestimating your skill just because you didn't meet the right people yet.

I started participating in poetry competitions in November 2022. Any competition that came my way, I registered for it, filled numerous forms, showed up at different places (colleges, gardens, theatres etc) and didn't win even a single competition.

No great appreciations and acknowledgements by anyone but I kept doing it because I was doing it for the satisfaction of my soul.

Been more than an year in November 2023 and still no prizes and not even special mentions. I would have stopped doing it because an year isn't less thing BUT I didn't.I kept writing and showing up however, whatever and whenever.

And Cut to 2 March 2024, I finally won my FIRST CONSOLATION PRIZE. Damn, it started happening. Why? Because I didn't step back.

Again Cut to Today (13 April 2024). I WON THE FIRST PRIZE IN A COMPETITION.

You know, how did it happen? Throughout my journey, i didn't only write while sitting in my room and staring the ceiling but I met like minded people every month and learnt a lot from them.

The way they recite their piece, topics they choose, their expressions, and life values. It helped me a lot to keep writing and learning.

Thus, if you really want people to read your poetry :

KEEP WRITING

ENGAGE WITH LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE

READ MORE AND MORE ABOUT YOUR GENRE

SHOW UP (Post your poetries at any platform or go for the competitions…start making it happen and stop questioning your skill and yourself)

I BELIEVE IN YOU BECAUSE ONCE I BELIEVED IN MYSELF AND IT WORKED OUT BEAUTIFULLY.

Dil ki gehraiyon se aapka bahut bahut dhanyawad💓

Pahal jaat - A High-dreamer💛
