Businesses don’t need creative writers.
If they want anything, it is copy that sells.
And most creative writers do not understand copywriting. So do poorly.
Both copywriting and content marketing are elements of marketing and advertising- in the world of business in college. ‘Creative writing’ is given by the literature, English, or humanities department. Completely different.
Persuasion and influence, knowledge of how and why people buy, and buyer segmentation and communication are the tools of a copywriter. All the creativity in the world won’t overcome not knowing those.
You should consider taking a course in writing copy. Although it would be very different, you might be excellent at it once you adapt!
